Volunteer opportunities - Thunguma children's home

There is an art program that involves activities intended to foster creative self-expression as a form of therapy and general personal development for the Centre’s children and youth. The art program also involves training to provide livelihood opportunities for young people with special talent in the creative arts. The program is a collaborative effort between the Centre, the Zawadi Society and other partner organizations.

Art Therapy
Volunteers run weekly art-therapy sessions with the  children and youth. Growing up on the streets or in difficult homes often means that children have difficulty expressing their emotions in a healthy manner. Art allows the children to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe and caring environment.

After learning this important bit of information we headed to see the art which the children had made.
From the pictures on the wall
 which made us go wow

to the truly magnificent pieces some done by the children

We also learned that they sell the pieces and are currently on a marketing campaign because funds that they get from here go towards purchase of art materials and the progression of the center and its activities.

We at Oloi Travels through our Charitable arm INSPIRE congratulate the efforts put towards this initiative and the big hearts that are involved in this project. For anyone willing to help with art material or perhaps buy a piece of wonderful art Email olio.tours@gmail.com or go to the CYEC website and learn how to get involved or Email info@cyec.net

Volunteers are also welcome. We found two young people from an outside country working with the children.
