Day 1: Arrival at the Nairobi
airport
Day
2: A Range
Still revered as God’s abode when He was not on Mount Kenya;
it was originally known as Nyandarua by the Kikuyu, which means ‘the
drying hide’ because its contours have features akin to the folds of an
unspread hide. It was named the Aberdare Range in 1884 by the famous explorer
Joseph Thomson in honour of the 1st Baron, Lord Aberdare, before it
became well known as the headquarters of Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi, the
legendary leader of the 1950s Mau Mau Uprising.
Explore this region with a foot safari, which is a must for landscape lovers and has been a
major attraction which continues to be a favorite destination of travelers who
love the outdoors and wildlife. It has remarkable topography diverse with
yawning ravines, high moorland to deep gorges topped with rugged peaks, teeming
mountain streams, undisturbed rivers and cascading waterfalls. The
Aberdare National Park will offer you the ideal environment for exploring as you go
trekking throughout the forests and across the moorlands or even go horse
riding at the foothills of the Aberdares.
Day 3: A lake -Ol'Bolosat
Lying In the chilly shadows of the Aberdare Ranges in
central Kenya lies this lake. Lake
Ol Bolossat – the only lake in Kenya’s Central Province .it is
the source of the Ewaso Narok River which flows silently underground towards
the Lorian Swamp before emerging and tumbling down the 75 metres (256 feet)
Thomson Falls into the boulder strewn gorge below and eventually joining the
Tana River and flowing east into the Indian Ocean.
It is a beautiful, unspoiled yet unexplored lake, and is home to several families of hippopotamus, and a temporary sanctuary for thousands of migrating birds. It has been recognized as a wetland that holds some of the threatened water bird species in Kenya Among these birds are several varieties of ducks, pelicans and the beautiful Ugandan Crested Crane and has been accepted as the 61st Important Bird Area (IBA) for Kenya.
