Mwea national park, Gazetted in 1976 covers an area northwest of kamburu dam at the
confluence of Tana river and Thiba river. Two islands within kamburu dam
constructed in 1976 are in the protected area. Mwea the only protected area in

SOLIO RANCH
The Solio Ranch or Solio Game Reserve is a privately
owned wildlife conservancy. The ranch is a privately-owned protected area
geared toward rhino conservation. The 17,500-acre reserve, 22 km north of Nyeri
Town, plays a major part in the protection and breeding black rhinos in Kenya
and is recognized as one of the most successful private rhino breeding reserves
in Kenya.
The various species of animals live in harmony with each other. Some of the unique wildlife to be seen in this expansive sanctuary include:the Rhino (both black & white), Buffalo, Zebra, Giraffe and plains game such as Eland, Oryx, Impala, Waterbuck, Thompson’s gazelle and Warthog.

Nature Park is perfect for bird lovers as it is home to many rare forest birds.
The rare Hinde's Babbler has been sighted in the park along with over 110 other
recorded species of birds. Bird watching is enjoyed amongst flowering
shrubbery.
